Death Race '82 is a top-down arcade racing game in the style of more popular arcade races such as Super Sprint by Atari According to the game's packaging: "It's 2082 and you've been captured and put in a dungeon. Your captors are corrupt opst-World War III land barons. Atomic radiation casualties have reduced the Earth's total population to less than 10,000 people. So everyone depends on robots to get daily tasks done, including dungeon guarding. You've manage to escape your cell. Apparently, according to the box - only James Bond style driving will keep you alive!"
