The player control each ship within their fleet in combat. The game is text-only, and came with a board and physical pieces to allow the player to keep track of the location of theirs and enemy units. Combat proceeds in defined time intervals, with changing weather conditions effecting gameplay. The game can proceed for a set turn interval or until all vessels are destroyed. The player uses radar/visual and sonar contacts to locate enemy vessels and submarines. Each vessel is armed with limited armaments with varying range and damage potential. Ship navigation is performed by inputting direction and speed. Helicopter operations to scout for enemy vessels are available. Orders are given to each vessel, and at the end of the turn, the player receives a readout of combat events. Players receive a final score based upon the success of combat.
