WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain is a follow-up to WWE SmackDown! Shut Your Mouth, showcasing more than 55 WWE superstars (including Brock Lesnar, Scott Steiner, Rey Mysterio, Bill Goldberg, and others), as well as adding famous wrestlers of former times ("WWE Legends") to the roster. The game features real-life attributes of strength, submission, technique, speed and stamina for each wrestler. These new attributes allow players to wear down their opponents and take advantage of each Superstar's unique abilities and extensive move sets, expanding the amount of stances to sixteen (as opposed to four in the previous game). The presentation has been enhanced with new camera angles, superstar voiceovers, additional animations, and new arena and crowd elements. Players can create, play and develop their own superstar through various storylines staged by the WWE. New match types and modes are available as well. Players can track their progress with seasonal stats, earn money to build up superstar abilities, and unlock hidden features.
