The Mean Checkers Machine is an early black & white checkers game. The player uses text commands to move board pieces, and allows for 1-player versus computer and 2-player games. The game uses American Standard Rules, and only legal moves are allowed. The game allows forced jump or optional jump modes. Other options include: The ability to take back a move, saving/loading games, the ability to set up your own board prior to playing, and the ability to switch pieces at any time. The game has 9 levels of artificial intelligence, but is set to difficulty level 3 on startup. At difficulty level 9, it can take 4 - 12 hours for original TRS-80 hardware to make a move.
