PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is a tower defense strategy game. This PSP version, later also made compatible with the PS Vita, is the first version of the game for the platform and contains the original PS3 game PixelJunk Monsters (Tiki Island) slip-streamed with the DLC PixelJunk Monsters Encore (Toki Island and Tum Tum Tum Island). This version also contains an entirely new location called Gati Gati Island with eleven additional levels, bringing the total amount of levels to 47. It also features two new towers such as a one that upgrades other towers automatically, a new enemy, and a new boss, as well as additional features such as music and concept art galleries that are accessed from the Tiki Hut in the main menu. Also entirely new for the series is the Challenge mode. Additional challenges are offered for the missions to earn a medal and unlock bonus items. Objectives include beating stages without using certain towers or upgrades, or finishing levels with a certain amount of gems remaining. A two-player co-op mode is available through the PSP's Ad-Hoc mode, or online.
